Kronospan Luxembourg has recently received the prestigious Lean and Green award for Sustainable Logistics.
The award was presented by Mr. Camille Gira - The State Secretary for Sustainable Development and Infrastructure at the Benelux General Secretariat in Brussels on 6th February 2018.
The award is given to organizations that commit to cutting CO2 emissions by at least 20% in under five years.
We view the Lean and Green award as an additional support to our existing philosophy of cutting greenhouse gases. This includes reducing our ecological footprint while saving costs. We strive to improve continuously and this approach has meant that Kronospan Luxembourg is now one of the principal contributors in reaching Luxembourg’s renewable energy sources target.
Furthermore Kronospan Luxembourg is pursuing the ambitious objective to reduce its logistics CO2 footprint by 30%. So we are relocating as far as possible all our goods from road to rail, which both increases the economic and ecological benefits and implements the much needed changes in mobility. The sites eventual aim is to have a negative CO2 balance by:
- Using reduction potential to avoid empty kilometres
- Through modal shift using combined lorry-rail multimodal solutions
- Building sustainable logistics through collaborative networks across the entire supply chain
- Through an innovative combination of In- and Outbound
