New sustainability promise takes responsible forest sourcing to a new level
Published 23.10.17
In October 2017 Kronospan pledged its support to the Forest Stewardship Council’s new initiative - the Vancouver Declaration. Launched at the FSC’s 2017 General Assembly, the Vancouver Declaration allows businesses which use these natural products to pledge their commitment to increase responsible sourcing and increase the use of materials from responsibly managed forests.
We have chosen to give visible and credible assurance of our commitments to our customers and other stakeholders by sourcing FSC and PEFC-certified and controlled wood for our products.
As forest products are an essential part of the materials Kronospan produces, our success is dependent on long term access to these raw materials and we recognize the responsibility we have in ensuring that the world’s forests are managed sustainably.
We want to ensure that our use of forest materials contributes to sustainable development, not least to local people who are dependent on the forests, because without wood materials we would not be able to serve our customers with products meeting their expectations on functionality, quality, volume and sustainability performance.
We commit to do our share by continuing to increase our sourcing of FSC-certified materials. We call upon forest managers and other companies to support this movement, because market transformation can only succeed if we all commit and make the effort.
