Published 01.04.16

The Kronospan Scholarship provides the opportunity for talented young people from disadvantaged families in Central and Eastern Europe to gain a Bachelor’s degree, funded by Kronospan, at the top-ranking entrepreneurial university, Babson College, USA. Throughout their time at Babson, the Kronospan Scholars are not only taught to think entrepreneurially and how to put their thoughts into action, but are also able to apply their knowledge during internships throughout the Kronospan world. After four years, the scholars receive a BSc degree in Business Administration with a concentration of their choosing.
The 2015/16 application cycle for the coveted scholarship was special in many ways; not only did the number of applications increase substantially, but the approach to the selection process was also adapted to involve more personal time with the candidates. Recruiting activities were kicked off with Road Shows in the chosen focus countries, where the students not only received an in-depth presentation on Babson and its curriculum but also got to speak with Kronospan Foundation representatives. After a round of interviews, selected candidates went on to participate in Micro Labs, where they met Babson’s Dean of Admissions, Courtney Minden, as well as Babson’s VP of Admissions, Adrienne Ramsey. At the Micro Labs the potential scholars got a first glimpse of Kronospan and were involved in numerous exercises encouraging them to speak out and present their personalities.
Daniel Gasperowicz from Poland stood out at various stages of the recruiting process, and he was especially impressed by the Micro Lab. “Never before had I taken part in a Micro Lab. Not only was it interesting and engaging, but it also gave me an overview of production and design in Kronospan, which makes me really excited about my upcoming internships with the company.” At the Micro Lab, Daniel showed the admissions committee that he was a truly outstanding candidate, emphasizing his passion for business and strong analytical mindset, while showing great interest in the way a manufacturing business like Kronospan works. His determination and positive mentality was thoroughly impressive and placed him as the front runner.
Today Daniel is proud of what he has achieved and cannot wait to start his journey at Babson College. “I can’t wait to enroll at Babson. I am sure that my interest in numbers and analytical mind will be the key to my success. I dream of bringing the ideas and entrepreneurial training I will learn at Babson back to Poland. I can achieve that thanks to the Kronospan Scholarship. That’s why there are no words which can express my gratitude to the Kronospan Foundation for having selected me as the next scholar. I will do my utmost to seize this opportunity and prove that I was the right choice.”
Daniel will start his studies at Babson in August 2016.
